The Zoo Storyby Edward Albee |
|
Albee once described his work as "an examination of the American Scene, an attack on the substitution of artificial for real values in our society, a condemnation of complacency, cruelty, and emasculation and vacuity, a stand against the fiction that everything in this slipping land of ours is peachy-keen." Over the years Albee has received an impressive number of awards including three Pulitzer Prizes and an Obie award for sustained achievement in the theatre. The Zoo Story is the third offering in TheatreZone's Actor's Revenge, a festival of actor selected plays, and is playing in repertory with Danny and the Deep Blue Sea by John Patrick Shanley. Actor Michael McKeogh (Curse of the Starving Class, Cooking with Elvis) will play Jerry. McKeogh chose this classic because, "The first time I read this play it broke my heart." McKeogh chose Quebecois designer/director Julia Noulin-Merat, who has designed sets for the last four TheatreZone productions, to direct.
