Traversing the dark landscapes of lowest common denominator media, TheatreZone’s mAlice: An Improv Tabloid Odyssey combines improvised scenes, music, video, and drawing as Alice negotiates the wonder world where personal tragedy has been repackaged as popular entertainment.

mAlice, TheatreZone’s first collective creation, unites the talents of acting company members Henry Balzarini, Danielle Fauteux Jacques, Sharon Maguire, and Lynda Newton. Joining them is Venezuelan visual artist Gigi Mederos, improvising tabloid imagery from audience doodles and creating an ever changing visual landscape. TheatreZone founding members Newton, Balzarini, and Jacques began working together in 1993 as members of the International House of Improv, where they created Love/Hate Relationships and Improv: the Darker Side and hosted the Improv Poetry Slam. Now they return to their improv roots to voyage to that real world that only a producer could love.
